Renault F1 Test for Tiago Monteiro 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th of December at Barcelona 

On Wednesday, November 6^th at the Renault Showroom in downtown Lisbon, Tiago Monteiro released to the Portuguese press details on his forthcoming Formula One test session with the Renault F1 Team behind the wheel of the R202, scheduled to take place at the Barcelona track of Montmeló on 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th of December. 

The confirmation of the young drivers first taste of the Renault F1 proves Monteiro’s undeniable driving qualities and presents an even larger impact to all the sponsors that have been crucial in his first F3000 season. After passing all evaluations organized by the French team throughout the season and sitting among the elite four designated as “test and development drivers” for the Renault Formula One Team 2003, Tiago will run at the Barcelona track for two days in one of Trulli’s or Button’s F1 single seater cars. 

An opportunity gained with his own merit after Renault recognized his high degree of professionalism and dedication. This nomination, singled out among many candidates, represents an enormous prestige for the Portuguese motor sport panorama, being this the very first time a Portuguese driver has undergone a detailed evaluation with the sole goal of selecting an “official” formula one test driver. 

“A test driver does a lot of kilometers during the year and they have to be able to clearly transmit everything to the team. All in all, we are the guinea pig of F1. On the other hand it is the best way to prepare for F1, since I can run a lot and not carry the pressure of racing. It is true that there are many ways to get into the F1 world, but in my opinion, this one is the best. All I have to do now is to get 100% ready for the tests and then wait for the result which should be announced a few days before Christmas”. Remarked Monteiro, who continued by saying: “To be a part of the selected few testing a Renault F1 is an honour and a dream come true. I am really looking forward to get behind the wheel of the R202”, concluded Tiago Monteiro who solely depends on himself to guarantee the open slot on the Renault Formula One Team.
