The
Coca-Cola Nordic Racing team head to Brazil for the opening round of the FIA
F3000 International Championship, which takes place on the 30th March
at the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paolo.
Last
season saw the team win the opening race in Brazil with Justin Wilson taking the
chequered flag for the Norfolk based team. However, this year sees the debut of
an all-new Lola car, and for the team two new rookie drivers.
Hungarian
driver Zsolt Baumgartner and Australian Ryan Briscoe have both yet to race at
the Interlagos circuit, but team principal Derek Mower is confident that they
shall both perform well.
Commented
Mower: “With a new car and two new drivers we shall be heading to Brazil
knowing that we have a great deal of work to do. Last season was an exceptional
year for the team and it’s drivers, which culminated in the winning of both
the Team, and Drivers Championships.
However,
as much as we would like to replicate these feats again this year, we have to be
aware that both of our drivers have little or no F3000 experience. Having said
that, they are both motivated and talented young drivers and we will certainly
be after points.”
Team Manager Chris Mower added: “ It’s great to finally have another race, it seems years since Monza last September. We have not set our goals too high to begin with especially with all the problems we have had in pre season testing however I do know Ryan, Zsolt and the whole team will be giving 100% so we may be in with a chance for some points. Both Zsolt and Ryan have never raced here before but they are both fast learners so you never know what might happen. ”
