FIA INTERNATIONAL FORMULA 3000
OFFICIAL TEST AT MONZA, ITALY

Day two of the test enabled the Super Nova team to continue their development work for the race here in September.  Tiago Monteiro had three sets of tyres to use today as he spent his time yesterday getting to know the track.  He used his first set of tyres when the circuit was cool and he set his quickest time of 1:40.522.  This was 1.3 seconds quicker than his time from yesterday.  Unfortunately when he came to use his other two sets later in the morning the track had gone off and he was unable to go quicker.  During this afternoon the drivers continued testing various set-ups  The team will now focus on round six of the championship, which takes place next weekend at the Nurburgring in Germany.

Tiago Monteiro (1:40.522)  "I used all three sets of my new tyres in the morning session but really only my first set were useful because we wanted to do quite a lot of changes after the first set and when I wet back onto the track with the second set of tyres, the track had got hotter and hotter, so it is a shame that I couldn't do a lot better.  I am quite happy with my times, as the time I did on new tyres was only three tenths off Sebastien, it is very close as there were sixteen drivers all within a second but still we have to improve the general grip.  It is very balanced but I just need a bit more grip.  I am pretty happy with the performance even though it was not a great position.  I am getting really confident with the car now and I did a lot of miles yesterday and also today so it has been good preparation for the race here."

Team Manager - David Sears: "All the times were extremely close during this two day test in Monza. Tiago Monteiro ended up less than 0.7 seconds off the main time and was fourteenth overall.  Neither driver was using tyre warmers to get an advantage with heated tyres but the Super Nova team covered a lot of development work."
