Very successful start for the Austrian Red Bull Junior Team at the “Autodromo Carlos Pace” of Sao Paolo: Ricardo Mauricio has finished a very tough race at the bumpy circuit of Interlagos on a fine third position after his 8th place at yesterday’s qualifying.“I knew, it will be a very long and hot race. I just had to stay on the track and make no mistakes!
It´s great to be on the podium at my home grand-prix. What a start into a new season!”
The
Brazilian festival was completed by winner Rodrigo Sperafico followed by Mario
Haberfeld.
For
the second time after 2001, Patrick Friesacher from Austria was the most
disappointed driver at the season’s start at Brazil.
After
his technical problems of last year and the race-disaster with his former
team-mate Antonio Garcia, the young man of Carinthia/Austria made a big mistake
at the beginning of yesterday’s first qualifying session. He had lost his car
over the curbs of the Ayrton Senna Chicane. The Lola was damaged seriously at
the rear, but Patrick´s crew was able to repair the car over night.
Today’s
race showed a very ambitious Patrick Friesacher, but there was no chance to come
quickly through the field. The race set-up was completely missing.
