F3000 SAN MARINO GRAND PRIX - Qualifying session
Imola – 12 April 2002 Weather: rain Temperatures: air 11 °C - track 9 °C First row for Durango Team with the Brazilian driver Rodrigo Sperafico on the Circuit “Enzo e Dino Ferrari” in Imola. Still very good the performances of the Durango Team which starts its cars in second and twelfth position on the grid for the race of tomorrow. Nevertheless the bad weather conditions Rodrigo Sperafico exploited the rain tyres in the best way during the first qualifying session, instead Alex was stopped by traffic on the track during the last laps of the first session, which didn’t permit him to make better than a twelfth position. The second qualifying session was characterized by a heavy rain and times definitely higher than the first session. Alex Müller Position: 12th Laps: 34 Best time: 1’56.325 “The car is OK, unfortunately during the last two laps of the first session, the best to make a good time, I found traffic on the track.” Rodrigo Sperafico Position: 2nd Laps: 27 Best time: 1’54.786 “Everything went right, and it was great the decision to keep the rain tyres when almost all the other cars put on the slick. I hoped that during the second session it could stop raining, but weather got worse and it was impossible improve the time.” Ivone Pinton – Team Principal “We could start with both drivers in the first three rows, after the pit stop Alex was fifth but unfortunately because of the traffic on the track he was not able to exploit the magic moment of the track, he anyway demonstrated that he could do a good job. ”Italian

Continuano
le ottime prestazioni del Team veneto che ha piazzato una vettura in seconda
posizione e l’altra in dodicesima sulla griglia di partenza della gara di
domani. Nonostante le condizioni meteo avverse Rodrigo Sperafico ha saputo
sfruttare al meglio il set di gomme rain durante il primo turno di prove,
traffico invece per Alex Müller negli ultimi minuti della prima sessione, che
gli ha impedito di salire oltre il dodicesimo posto vanificando le buone
prestazioni dei i primi giri.
La
seconda sessione di prove è stata caratterizzata da una pioggia piuttosto forte
e da tempi decisamente più alti rispetto alla prima.

è andato come doveva, ed è stata ottima la scelta di continuare a girare con
le rain quando ormai tutti avevano montato gomme da asciutto. Speravo che
durante la seconda sessione le condizioni meteo migliorassero e la pista potesse
asciugarsi, invece la pioggia si è intensificata ed è stato impossibile
abbassare i tempi.”

partire con entrambi i piloti nelle prime tre file, dopo la sosta ai box Alex
era salito in quinta posizione ma purtroppo a causa del traffico non ha potuto
sfruttare il momento magico della pista, ha comunque dimostrato di poter fare
