F3000 IMOLA GRAND PRIX - Race

Imola, 13 April 2002 Weather: very cloudy Temperatures: air 19 °C – track 21 °C Durango Team leads the championship with the great second place of the Brazilian driver Rodrigo Sperafico. Another podium for Rodrigo Sperafico, started from the second position on the grid he did a very good race, he drove with skills and intelligence, and this permitted the Team to bring home important points for the championship. Five laps to go and the risk of rain was high, but all the drivers in the top position managed to finish the race. Definitely unlucky day for the German driver Alex Müller, which did a great start, overtaking several cars during the first part of the race, but stopped by a technical problem when he was in eight position. Alex Müller retired “I made a very good start, even if I had problems with the behaviour of some drivers which have to realize the risk that this can create. I did very good overtakes, a pity for the problem on the car.” Rodrigo Sperafico Position: 2nd “We made the qualifying with different conditions compared to today, so there were some doubts on the race. I started behind Bourdais and I didn’t want to take any risk, I wanted to remain close to him waiting for a possible mistake which didn’t come. Anyway I’m happy for the result and for the points I got today. This results make me confident for the championship.” Ivone Pinton – Team principal “This race is another confirmation of the great job we did during the winter. In Interlagos someone could think that the result was due to the fact that Rodrigo knew the circuit, but in Imola there are no excuses, we started in first row and we reached the podium for the second time, and now we are enjoying that.”

Il Team Durango continua a condurre il campionato con il magnifico secondo posto del pilota brasiliano Rodrigo Sperafico.

Ancora un podio per Rodrigo Sperafico, partito dalla seconda posizione ha saputo effettuare una gara egregia, condotta con grinta ed intelligenza, che ha permesso al Team di portarsi a casa punti preziosi. A cinque giri dal termine l’imminente pioggia sembrava poter dare qualche fastidio, ma tutti i piloti di testa hanno saputo portare a termine la gara.

Giornata decisamente sfortunata invece per il pilota tedesco Alex Müller, che dopo avere effettuato un’ottima partenza dalla sesta fila ed essere stato autore di numerosi sorpassi, è stato fermato da un problema meccanico quando si trovava in ottava posizione.

“Sono partito molto bene, anche se ho avuto qualche problema con la condotta di alcuni piloti che devono rendersi conto della pericolosità di alcune azioni. Sono riuscito ad effettuare dei bei sorpassi, peccato per il guasto alla vettura.”

Rodrigo Sperafico Posizione: 2°

“Avevamo provato sul bagnato in condizioni diverse da oggi, quindi c’era qualche incognita sulla gara. Sono partito dietro a Bourdais e non volevo correre rischi, ho cercato di rimanergli sempre il più vicino possibile aspettando un suo errore che però non è arrivato, sono comunque contento del secondo posto e dei punti ottenuti, questi risultati che continuano ad arrivare mi rendono fiducioso per il campionato.”

“Anche questa gara è stata un’ulteriore conferma dell’ottimo lavoro svolto durante l’inverno. Ad Interlagos si poteva attribuire la vittoria al fatto che Rodrigo correva in casa su una pista che conosceva, ma qui non ci sono scuse, sul circuito di Imola siamo partiti in prima fila e siamo arrivati sul podio per la seconda volta consecutiva, e adesso ci godiamo questo piacere.”
