SPANISH GRAND PRIX - Qualifying session

Barcelona, 26 April 2002 Weather: sun Temperatures: air 23 °C – track 32 °C Another good qualifying session for the Durango Team, which in the race of tomorrow will start from the “points zone” with the third row of the Brazilian driver Rodrigo Sperafico, and from the seventh row with the German driver Alex Müller. Regret due to the fact that we bet mostly on the second session, while the track was absolutely quickest during the very first laps of the first session. Probably this mistake is the reason why the Team wasn’t able to set the best time. Anyway the car is good, we made improvements during the second qualifying session despite the bad condition of the track. Alex Müller Position: 13th Laps: 22 Best time: 1:33.678 “I had a problem on the gear box during the first session, when the track was quickest, so I lost the possibility to get an interesting time. During the second session the car was fine, in fact the gap to the best time is not so bad.” Rodrigo Sperafico Position: 6th Laps: 37 Best time: 1:33.313 “I started the first session with low down force, for this reason I didn’t get the best in the first qualifying session, nor the first set of tyres. In the second session we worked at the beginning with the old tyres, but also with the second set of tyres the time didn’t come. With the third set I decided to take some risks and the car was definitely better, even if this wasn’t enough to get the pole position, due to the conditions of the track.”
