F3000 Championship 2002 - Qualifying, Barcelona.

Both Red Bull Junior drivers among top ten: Ricardo Mauricio will start from 5th position tomorrow, team mate Patrick Friesacher from 7th!

3rd pole position in a row for Sebastien BOURDAIS (Fra)!

Both drivers of the Red Bull Junior Team have qualified for tomorrow's third race of the Formula 3000 Championship 2002 in Barcelona and will start from a top ten position: 
Ricardo Mauricio will start from 5th position tomorrow. The little Brazilian, who was third in Sao Paolo, was one of the few drivers that were able to improve in the 2nd training session today 

"In the beginning, I was unable to drive a perfect lap - I always made one big mistake and wasn't able to improve until the 2nd session, which I even finished 3rd. For tomorrow I am
hoping to improve further!" 
Team mate Patrick Friesacher started out 2nd today and then fell back to 5th position -
unfortunately he was unable to fight his way back to the top and even fell back to
7th position towards the end of the training: 

"I knew it this morning that it would either work out right away or not at all under these hot and dry conditions. Unfortunately, the latter was the case and I was unable to drive a single free lap with the new tires. 7th position is certainly not what I hoped for but it's not that bad either. I don't know
whether I will now be able to finish third tomorrow, which is what I was hoping for, as it's the Doctor's birthday tomorrow! But maybe Ricardo will be able to." 

For the third time already this year, French Sebastien Bourdais will start
from pole position tomorrow. Start of the race tomorrow, Saturday: 15.00h local time
