COCA-COLA NORDIC RACING BARCELONA RACE REPORT

 FIA Formula 3000 International Championship

FIA F3000 International Championship.
Round 3 (of 12)
Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain.
April 27th.

Spain.

The third round race of the FIA F3000 International Championship at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain proved a race of mixed fortunes for the Coca-Cola Nordic Racing team, with only one driver finishing the race.

In hot conditions, drivers Zsolt Baumgartner and Ryan Briscoe both made good starts from their positions on the grid. Unfortunately for Hungarian driver Baumgartner, a first lap collision with the Super Nova Racing Lola of Tiago Monteiro meant that his race was over almost as soon as it had begun. Briscoe had a better afternoon, managing to move up through the race order to finish in 12th place after having started the race from 18th.

Team Manager Chris Mower commented: “ It was a shame for Zsolt that Monteiro had to move over therefore knocking Zsolt out of the race, otherwise I think he would have had a good race car today. Ryan showed the improvements we have all made after passing Nguyen and setting laptimes consistently in the top 4. We will now go through all the data and determine which of those improvements will be suitable for the A1-Ring.

Team Principal Derek Mower added: “We were disappointed for Zsolt as he has been improving at each race but has not been able to show his potential as yet, Ryan had a bad qualifying session but in the race he gave us a glimpse of his true talent with the lap times he posted, I am sure we will qualify much better in Austria and look forward to the Race”.
