FIA
F3000 International Championship.
Round 4 (of 12). A1-Ring, Austria.
Saturday 11th May 2002.
The A1 Ring
in Austria is the venue for round four of the FIA F3000
International
Championship and if past history is anything to go by, then it should be a race
of uncertainty. The biggest problem
that faces the team in Austria is the weather – which can change from
brilliant sunshine to torrential rain within seconds. The circuit itself is
hidden away in the mountainous Styrian region of central Austria and boasts one
of the longest and steepest climbs to a corner of any circuit on the F3000
calendar.
Coca-Cola
Nordic Racing driver Ryan Briscoe and Zsolt Baumgartner shall both be looking to
make the most of their qualifying sessions, as it is during these sessions that
races can be won or lost, especially on a circuit such as the A1 Ring.
Team
Principal Derek Mower commented: “We are looking forward to Austria as we
finished 1st and 3rd there last year and are keen to see
the improvements that Ryan and Zsolt have made. Zsolt had an unfortunate
accident on the first lap in our last race at Barcelona, so we still have not
seen his full potential. We must not lose sight of the fact that this is a
learning formula and we have two young drivers who are doing just that.”
Team Manager
Chris Mower added: “We have always enjoyed the A1 Grand Prix in the past and
this year should be no exception. Zsolt and Ryan are improving all the time and
our engineers are constantly making headway with the car, so our results should
continue to progress.”
