F3000 Championship 2002 – race 4, A1-Ring, 2002-05-11 Patrick Friesacher looking forward to his home race in Spielberg:
"I would very much like to finally drive an entire race lap at the A1-ring, since I have not done that yet. Also, I am of course hoping to get some points at home!"

Red Bull Junior team mate Ricardo Mauricio from Brazil has rather unpleasant memories of the Austrian race!

The 4th race of the International Formula 3000 Championship, which will be held this Saturday in Spielberg, Austria, will be a rather special one for Patrick Friesacher for various reasons:
 
First of all, a home race is always a special challenge for a driver: Expectations are high and the actual task becomes even more difficult because of a whole variety of support events. Apart from that, Patrick Friesacher – one might not believe it - has never driven an entire race lap on the A1-ring: The young driver from Carinthia started here for the first time last year - after
a great training, he started from 2nd position but then unfortunately dropped out already in the first corner, after a collision with the French Sebastien Bourdais.
 
Patrick F.: "That was a very bad moment for me, which I definitely want to avoid this year! Being able to drive an entire lap here would already be great! Just kidding! Of course I would like to show a special performance here, at home - and for that, I'll need a good qualifying. I am very much looking forward to this race and of course hope for as many points as possible."
 
Team mate Ricardo Mauricio has already gotten points twice this year and the Brazilian again expects a top 6 ranking at the A1-ring, even though he has not made any good experiences here so far: Ricardo M.: "The first time I started for the Red Bull team here was in 2000, when I finished 12th in the training but then would not make it to the finish in the race. Last year, I did not come here. I like the track though and would of course like to continue my record of success.
