International Formula 3000 Championship 2002,
Hungaroring – Qualifying.

Strong training for Red Bull Junior Ricardo Mauricio, who will start from
5th position tomorrow! 
Team mate Patrick Friesacher complained about heavy oversteering and finished 12th only. 
Pole position for Tomas Enge (CZ)! 

This afternoon, the Qualifying for the 10th race of the Formula 3000 Championship 2002 was held at Hungaroring near Budapest. Under dry but very muggy weather conditions, the two times 45 minutes sessions were once again dominated by Czech Tomas Enge, who will start from have pole position tomorrow and might therefore be able to take over the lead from Sebastien Bourdais (FRA). 

Today´s Qualifying was marked by various spins and accidents, the course being, according to most drivers “;rather bumpy”. Unfortunately, one of the accidents also concerned Ricardo Mauricio, who was (driving too optimistically) only able to drive 3 laps in the first session before going off into the grass! “But the 5th position reconfirms my love for this course. Maybe I will be able to make it to the podium again tomorrow, just like last year;” Ricardo Mauricio was rather optimistic after the training. 

Still, the Red Bull Junior Team´s hopes for tomorrow are on Ricardo M. Last year, the Red Bull Juniors had their best result in Hungary, with Mauricio finishing 2nd and Friesacher 4th. While Mauricio qualified as 5th for tomorrow´s race, Patrick Friesacher only made it to 12th position and complained about heavy over steering. 

Patrick Friesacher: "I unfortunately did not have a reasonable set-up. Especially on this course, the over steering is terrible! The delay is incredible! I have to stay realistic and do not expect any points for tomorrow!"
