Race Report

position
Tomas Scheckter: DNS
MySAP.com team driver Tomas Enge finished in sixth position in
today's final round of the FIA International Formula 3000
Championship at
Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium ? having qualified 13th. The race
was won by Fernando Alonso with Marc Goossens in second and
Nicolas Minassian third. Tomas finished sixth in the Drivers'
Championship.
Tomas Scheckter did not start the race after crashing on his way
to the grid sustaining an injury to his right wrist.
Tomas Enge
''It was an exciting race with plenty of
overtaking. In the opening laps
the competition was fierce and my fellow drivers pushed me
off the circuit a
couple of times. However I worked my way to sixth position and
scored a
Championship point which is some compensation after this
difficult weekend.'
Tomas Scheckter
'I lost control of the car on my
second lap to the grid and hit the
barrier breaking the front wing and the right front suspension.
Unfortunately that
meant I couldn't start the race.'
David Brown, Team Manager
'Enge drove well to gain so many places during the place. Its
refreshing to
take part in a race where there is overtaking and it
makes such a big
difference to the spectacle and the
quality of racing. We finished third in
the
team's Championship after what has been a difficult year for us.
We look forward to
the next season.'
