Round 10 (of 10) Race Report.
Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. 26th August 2000.

Nordic Racings Justin Wilson, starting from sixth place on the grid, fought a hard battle during the course of the 1 hour and eight minutes long 30 lap race, to finish in fifth position, giving himself and the team two more valuable points in the final round race.

Justin made a fast start to challenge second and third placed drivers, Marc Goossens and Bruno Junqueira, as the field approached the daunting uphill section, Eau Rouge.

"I made a good start," said Wilson, "and I was pushing Goossens and Junqueira hard into Eau Rouge, taking third by the top of the hill. However, Marc (Goossens) pushed me wide and on to the grass, which forced me to drop back for a moment, which was just enough time for Saelens to pass. The next thing I knew, I was down to fifth. Coming into the Bus Stop chicane I managed to take Goossens for fourth and then the Safety Car was called out. At the restart, Goossens manged to pass me at the top of Eau Rouge. The car felt good today, although the tyres were starting to suffer near the end of the race. All in all I am happy with my performance today and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chris and Derek Mower, along with everyone at Nordic Racing, for a very enjoyable season - the team have been great."

Team Manager Chris Mower added: "It has been a pleasure working with Justin
this season. We expect a lot from our drivers and Justin has always given more than 100% all season. Today was a shame because, having made it into third place by Eau Rouge, Justin looked capable of another podium finish. However, his trip on to the grass when Goossens protected his line, put paid to that. Justin, to his credit, never gave up the chase and continued to fight for any points available all the time that his wheels would turn, which was the very least that we have come to expect from this talented young driver."
