Round nine of the FIA International Formula 3000 Championship
Race Report
Tomas Enge: 17th position
Tomas Scheckter: 21st position
The mySAP.com team drivers Tomas Enge and Tomas Scheckter finished today's round nine of the FIA International Formula 3000 Championship at the Hungaroring in 17th and 21st place respectively.
Tomas Enge 'I had a difficult race. My car wouldn't start on the grid so I had to begin my race from the back at the re-start. It's extremely difficult to overtake here and I was stuck behind Albers and Piccini. The safety car came out on lap 24 and in my efforts to catch the rest of the pack I spun at the chicane. The balance of the car improved during the race and I did a slow lap near the end to create a bit of space and then set my fastest time. It's been a frustrating weekend but I look forward to Spa, which is one of my favourite circuits.'
Tomas Scheckter 'I made a good start and was 12th at the end of the first lap. On lap 21 Marc Goossens attempted to overtake me on the outside at the chicane and although I drove over the kerb to avoid him, he drove into me. This bent my front suspension so I had to go into the pits where the team repaired the car. I rejoined the race two laps down and was therefore unable to improve on my position for the rest of the race.'
David Brown, Team Manager 'It was unfortunately an incident-filled race for us with Enge's car refusing to start on the grid and Scheckter being hit by another competitor. We look forward to the final race of the season at Spa.'
