F3000 Championship 2001 - Round 3, barcelona – RAce.

Patrick Friesacher (Red Bull Junior Team F3000) after a tough fight unluckily 8th! Antonio Garcia on Position 10. 
Winner: Tomas Enge (CZ) - Nordic Racing

Patrick Friesacher showed one of his strongest races and - again his great talent. But the Red Bull Junior today was a little bit unlucky - beginning from the start.
He lost one position, when he came directly behind polesitter Justin Wilson into a jam - bad luck. Enge - Leinders - Wilson was the triangle on top - followed by Mario Haberfeld. And then, the group of the race - including Saelens, Pizzonia, Webber and even Friesacher on position 8.

Friesacher had no problem all the times to go the speed, he made pressure on Webber, winner of Imola, but had finally no chance to overtake him to use the chance for points. "At the start, I did the wrong decision - I should have hold position behind Enge. I lost a position and had a little bit of understearing at the beginning. After 10 everything was fine for me and I could make some pressure on the group ahead - even on Mark Webber. But there was no chance to get him without risk. So - the performance was ok. I was fastest of the group and lost position 5 by just 2 seconds. Now we are coming to my home Grand Prix to Spielberg. Believe it or not - my first race at the A1-Ring, incredible!"

Antonio Garcia - at his home Grand Prix - showed some fine manoeuvres (Bourdais) and had finally a fine top-ten result. "I had no problems at all - and I think, that was my best race in the Red Bull Junior Team F3000 so far!

Dr. Helmut Marko: "Patrick today was a little bit unlucky at the start - but that's business. Even on circuits like Barcelona, it is important to do a perfect qualifying - or to have a perfect start. Patrick showed again his speed - at the he was the fastest of the group. Also Antonio did a great job today. Top-ten after his qualifying is very ok. Even his overtaking of Bourdais was the picture of the day!"
