F3000 Championship 2001 – round 3, barcelona - QUALiFYING
Patrick Friesacher (Red Bull Junior Team F3000) best rookie on position 7: “I am not really satisfied - but there is big chance for points. The race should be very tough and hot – even a question of physical fitness!” Antonio Garcia finished 13th in qualifying. Poleposition for Justin Wilson, winner of Brazil.
Patrick Friesacher missed a big chance to get the second row on the grid for tomorrows race at Barcelona.
“In my fastest lap I had two big mistakes – and on my last set of new tires there were always yellow flags – no chance. But there is still a real chance for points tomorrow. It will be a very long race – and a very hot
one.”Friesacher was fastest rookie of the qualifying, seven tenth of a second behind polesitter Justin Wilson, winner of the F3000 race of Interlagos-first round. Team-mate Antonio Garcia will start tomorrow from position 13.
Dr. Helmut Marko expected a little bit more: “Patrick had a overstearing, that we couldn’t get away – but on seventh position, you have to look for some points. From Antonio I am expecting a top-ten result!
