F3000 CHAMPIONSHIP – ROUND 4, A1-RING, 01-05-12
PATRICK FRIESACHER (RED BULL JUNIOR TEAM F3000): FIRST RACE IN AUSTRIA ENDS IN FIRST CORNER. TOO OPTIMISTIC FACING THE LEADING POSITION.

ANTONIO GARCIA WAS DROPPED OUT THE RACE IN THE SAME CORNER.
WINNER OF THE RACE OVERALL LEADER: JUSTIN WILSON (GB)

Patrick´s home-race ended after 300 metres – a very bad and sad situation to the young red Bull Junior Team driver- even at his first race ever in Austria.

Friesacher had a superb start and pushed hard side by side with pole-sitter Boudais to the first corner. But there was no grip at all – and Friesacher had no chance to get his car out of the first corner without any problems.

PF: "I had a perfect start and saw the first corner in front of me– and the chance for leading my home-race. When you get the chance, you have to take it – but I was to optimistic, too fast, too late on the brakes – no chance. Sorry to my team and to Bourdais. It could have been my race!”

Antonio Garcia also was pushed out of the race after a fine start – but he went off after a collision in the middle of the Castrol-corner. 

Dr. Helmut Marko, kopfschüttelnd: "So einen Totalausfall habe ich wirklich noch nicht erlebt. Patrick war viel zu forsch nach seinem tollen Start – das kann dort nicht gut gehen! Das ist aber Unerfahrenheit und andererseits der Drang, bei seinem Heimrennen zu brillieren. Leid tut mir heute der Antonio, der einen sensationellen Start hatte und dann abgeschossen wurde. Garcia hätte heute erstmals Punkte machen können. Wir können nur konzentriert weiterarbeiten und aus Fehlern lernen.“
