FIA
F3000 International Championship WELCOME RETURN
After
a break of four weeks the FIA F3000 International Championship returns to
the race circuits of Europe with the sixth round race at the Nurburgring,
Germany. Following
on from the successful two-day test at the Hockenheim race circuit in
Germany earlier this month, which saw Coca-Cola Nordic Racing drivers
Justin Wilson and Tomas Enge head the time sheets on both days, the team
is keen to get back into the racing season. Team
Principal Derek Mower said: “ We hope to maintain our performance
level in the second half of the season, I think the team and drivers will
return fully charged and ready to go” This
race marks the first of two visits of the championship to Germany, the
second being the Hockenheim round in late July. Where Hockenheim is
usually hot and sunny, the Nurburgring is notorious for it’s wet weather
with heavy rainstorms arriving over the circuit to deluge the area a
common event. Situated high in the Eiffel mountain region of Germany, the
weather is constantly changeable between dry and wet. “This
is a good circuit to race at,” explained Justin Wilson, winner of
two races so far this season. “The weather can be a lottery here
though and we shall have to keep an eye on the sky, especially where
qualifying is concerned. One minute it can be dry, the next the rain is an
inch deep across the track. Whatever happens, my aim is to score points
and I shall be looking for my third race win of the season here.” Team
Manager Chris Mower added: “The
race at Nurburgring can’t come soon enough.
It’s only been 2½ weeks since the Hockenheim Test but it feels
like a month! Both Tomas and Justin are comfortable with the circuit and
we had a good car there last year. The good thing is everyone is rested
and really looking forward to scoring more points at Nurburgring.” “After
such a long break I cannot wait to get back into the car,” said
Tomas Enge. “The test at Hockenheim went really well for me and it
was nice to finish the second and final day as fastest driver. Now I am
looking forward to the sixth round race where I hope to turn that speed
into another podium finish for the Coca-Cola Nordic Racing Team.” The race shall be shown live on EUROSPORT at 15.00 hrs CET. For
