Red Bull Junior Team F3000, Nürburgring race

 FIA Formula 3000 International Championship

F3000 Championship 2001 – round 6, Nürburgring.
2 points for Red bull team-mate ricardo mauricio – position 5.

patrick friesacher: “just position 10 after a race without highlights.”

winner: tomas enge (nordic racing).

Ricardo Mauricio showed a strong performance again. The fast starting young Brazilian Red Bull Junior passed a view drivers right at the start and defended his 5th position through and good and consistent race. Another two points for Ricardo and the Red Bull Junior Team at the second race after his comeback.

Patrick Friesacher finished the sixth race of his F3000 career on 10th position – after a race without any troubles and highlights. Friesacher, in 11th position after the start lap had no problems to go the pace of the drivers in front of him. After 20 laps Patrick was even faster than Andrea Piccini but could not overtake the young Italian at the end of the start/finish straight.

Patrick Friesacher: „It was a little bit frustrating. I easily could hold  the speed of the rest of the field, but there was no chance to overtake. Just once I had a small chance to get Piccini, but the straight was too short and therefore I missed it. Position 10 is disappointing,  but it´s the result of my  yesterday´s bad qualifying. The 4th fastest lap of the race shows my speed and keeps me motivated for next weeks GP Magny Cours.” After a perfect race, Czech-driver Tomas Enge from Czech Republic finished first, followed by Mark Webber (AUS) and Ricardo Sperafico (BRA).

Team-owner Dr. Helmut Marko: „I am very happy again for Ricardo. He did a very fine job. Patrick´s problem was his qualifiying. But I would have expect a little bit more for today. So he has to take the next chance at Magny Cours!”
