BACK ON HOME SOIL

Round eight of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile Formula 3000 International Championship marks the return of the Coca-Cola Nordic Racing team to it’s more familiar home soil. For the British team, based at Thetford in Norfolk, this is their “home” grand prix and the importance of the occasion has not been lost on their drivers, especially Justin Wilson.

For Wilson, who leads the championship going into the Silverstone round, this could now be classed also as his local circuit. “I moved into the Silverstone area several weeks ago, so this is like a second home to me now. Being British, the Grand Prix weekend means a great deal to me and it is my main ambition to win in front of the home crowd this coming race weekend. I have a good knowledge of the circuit, but then again so do several other drivers. The important thing, yet again, is qualifying and I am determined to be at the top of the times as quickly as possible.”

With a 100% podium appearance record, the Coca-Cola Nordic Racing team has every confidence in its drivers, Tomas Enge and Justin Wilson, to be at the sharp end of the grid for round eight. Team Manager Chris Mower said: “ Both Justin & Tomas went well at Silverstone during our test in March earlier this year and Justin finished on the Podium there last year so we are quietly confident that he can do at least the same again. It is an important race for us because the top 3 are so close in the Drivers Championship, and whoever finishes in front of will probably be leading the Championship going to Hockenheim”

Team Principal Derek Mower added: “ It is our aim to go into the Silverstone weekend prepared for all eventualities, the weather can play a significant role in the outcome of the race, both drivers are ready and I am sure they will be totally committed and somewhere at the front. ”

The race shall be shown live on EUROSPORT at 15.00hrs CET.

Information from the race shall be available over the weekend on the team website. Be sure to check out www.nordicracing.com for further updates.
