F3000 CHAMPIONSHIP - ROUND 9, HOCKENHEIM.
PATRICK FRIESACHER (RED BULL JUNIOR TEAM F3000):
11TH PLACE FOR YOUNG AUSTRIAN AFTER A RACE WITH A LOT OF UPS AND DOWNS.
PROBLEMS AT THE WARM UP-LAP, BRILLIANT START, STOP&GO.
TEAMMATE RICARDO MAURICIO REACHED 14TH PLACE.
WINNER: PIZZONIA, FOLLOWED BY WILSON AND SPERAFICO.
The F3000 race of Hockenheim will be unforgettable to Patrick Friesacher of Red Bull Junior Team F3000.
He stalled the engine right at the start into the warm up lap and followed the field from the last position. Therefore Patrick F. should have to start into the race from the last position, too.
But he went back to his 12th position at the grid - and did one of his best starts ever. Position 7 after the first lap! After Manning lost his car, Friesacher already was on 6th place.
But then he had to come for the stop&go-penalty - and he lost 12 positions. Then Friesacher showed again, what he is able to do. One fastest lap followed the other - and Friesacher pushed very hard to come finally to position 11.
Patrick's teammate Ricardo Mauricio from Brazil also had some problems. He had to let change his front wings and lost a lot of time. He finally reached the 17th place.
Winner of a very fine race: Antonio Pizzonia (BRA) followed by overall-leader Justin Wilson (GB) and Ricardo Sperafico (BRA).
