F3000
CHAMPIONSHIP - round 11.
spa-francorchamps, QUALIFYING.
PROMISING PRACTICE FOR RED BULL JUNIOR TEAM.
RICARDO MAURICIO 4th, PATRICK FRIESACHER 6th
POLEPOSITION for SPERAFICO followed by PIZZONIA aND WILSON.
Once
more the Red Bull Junior Team F3000 showed a strong qualifying and both drivers
finished the Friday session in the top six.
Ricardo
Mauricio increased a disappointing 16th place at wet conditions
(session 1) into a promising fourth place on slicks – at the end of the second
session.
Patrick
Friesacher confirmed his excellent results from the last official FIA test with
a long time leading during the first qualifying session. Under wet conditions he
achieved second place, just one tenth of a second behind Pizzonia. During the
second session the track was drying up more and more and due to a late change of
tyres, Patrick has lost some positions.
But
his 6th place at tomorrows grid will let him some chances for points
again - and even more if it is raining again.
Patrick
F.: “Not really good, not really bad, something in between. My set-up for
wet conditions was nearly perfect. I should find my chance tomorrow!”
Ricardo M.: “I did not find any set up for rain. The second session was o.k then – so maybe we can repeat our excellent team-result from Budapest!”
