F3000 CHAMPIONSHIP 2001- RACE 11, SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS.

PODIUM AGAIN FOR RED BULL JUNIOR TEAM F3000.
RICARDO MAURICIO 3RD , PATRICK FRIESACHER UNLUCKILY 10TH.

WINNER: RICARDO SPERAFICO FOLLOWED BY THE NEW F3000 CHAMPION 2001 - JUSTIN WILSON (GB-NORDIC RACING).

Race 11 of the F3000 championship 2001 should become one of the most exciting F3000-races of the season. The race has been started behind the safety car - after two warm-up laps due to partly wet conditions on the track. 

Sperafico took the lead after the flying start followed by Justin Wilson and Mark Webber. 
When Webber lost his car right after the famous "Eau Rouge", the new F3000 champion 2001 has been crowned - Justin Wilson (GB-Nordic Racing). Ricardo Mauricio did an excellent job and defended his 3rd position successfully during the entire race.

Teammate Patrick Friesacher found himself on 6th at the beginning. But the young Carinthian had obviously his problems at the end of the long straight after "Eau Rouge". 
He lost some positions even there - first to Tomas Enge, than to Marc Goossens and to Bas Leinders. When the big rain has come during the last few corners, Patrick lost his car on the brakes at the "bus-stop-chicane". He crashed into Bas Leinders and lost some more positions.
Finally Friesacher finished on 10th place, just a few seconds out of the points. 
Sperafico did win his first ever F3000 race in a very dominant way followed by the new champ Justin Wilson and Red Bull Junior Ricardo Mauricio, who was of course very happy to finish on the rostrum again. 

Ricardo M.: "Unbelievable - my second top three result in just two weeks. I am so sorry, that the season will end in Mona. I could go for ten more races this year."

Patrick F.: "We had a bad balance on the car, even at the fast corners. Also my 5th gear has been a bit too short. So I had some problems at the end of the long straight after "Eau Rouge"
