COCA-COLA NORDIC RACING MONZA PREVIEW, ICING ON THE CAKE

 FIA Formula 3000 International Championship

FIA F3000 International Championship.
Round 12 (of 12). Monza, Italy.
14th + 15th September.
Race preview.

The Coca-Cola Nordic Racing head to Monza in Italy for the final round of the FIA F3000 International Championship with just one objective – enjoyment.

Having secured the Team Championship title at the round ten race of the series in Hungary, the Thetford based outfit then went on to see Coca-Cola Nordic Racing driver Justin Wilson win the Drivers Championship at Spa, Belgium, in the eleventh and penultimate round.

With the two titles already won by the team, the emphasis for the forthcoming final race shall be fun. “Having won the title already,” said Justin Wilson, “I can go to Monza without any pressure. That means I shall be totally relaxed and able to enjoy my weekends racing without the added pressure of having to fight for every point I can get. However, this does not mean that we are slowing down. It simply means that we shall be going for the final race win of the calendar without having to worry too much. Motor racing is meant to be fun after all.”

With regular driver Tomas Enge replacing the injured Luciano Burti at the Prost Formula One team for the Italian Grand Prix, his highly coveted seat goes to 18 year-old fellow Czech driver Jaroslav Janis. Jaroslav joins the Coca-Cola Nordic Racing team from the German F3 series, where he has been racing with the Opel Team KMS.

Team Manager Chris Mower said: “ Even though most of the pressure we have been experiencing throughout the season has gone now we still want to win this race. I would like to welcome Jaroslav Janis to the team. We will do everything we can to make him feel welcome for the last round of the season. We tested Jaroslov at Jerez in February and he handled himself very well during the limited time he was in the car.  We have no doubt that Jaroslav is exceptionally talented but it will be an enormous hill for the teenager to climb having not driven the car since February.”

Team Principal Derek Mower added: “ On the one hand I am very pleased for Tomas as he has climbed the ladder and through his talent has reached the top. I would liked Tomas to have finished 2nd in the F3000 Championship but the opportunity he has with Prost GP is far more important.

We all welcome Jaroslav to the Team and we will do all we can to make sure he settles in with the team and achieves a good result.

Justin will be enjoying this weekend I am sure and will be trying to break Montoya’s record of 65 points for a season. ”

The race shall be shown live on EUROSPORT at 15:00hrs CET.
