COCA-COLA NORDIC RACING MONZA RACE REPORT

 FIA Formula 3000 International Championship

FIA F3000 International Championship
Round 12 (of 12). 15th September.
Monza, Italy. Race report.

The Coca-Cola Nordic Racing team finished the 2001 season in record-breaking style with a second-place podium finish for champion Justin Wilson. The team now have a record 110 points in the Team Championship with Wilson, who secured the drivers title in Belgium two weeks earlier, finishing the year with 71 points – beating the previous record of 65, set by Juan Pablo Montoya.

“This is a day of very mixed emotions for the Coca-Cola Nordic Racing team,” said Team Principal Derek Mower. “The recent events in America which have left so many people dead or injured has cast a huge shadow over this weekend. The whole team observed a minute silence in remembrance of the dead on Friday and our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone that has been involved in this terrible tragedy. Then, with the news about Zanardi and the accident in Germany reaching the paddock after the race, the Coca-Cola Nordic Racing team feel that it would be inappropriate to celebrate our success this season at this time.”
