A BRAZILIAN PODIUM FOR TEAM DURANGO

 FIA Formula 3000 International Championship

Jaime Melo and team Durango Benetton Junior Team finish the Brazilian race on a wonderful podium. A brilliant start for Jaime that was leading the group then a series of event put Melo in 4th and then 5th position (Pizzonia, Enge and Ro. Sperafico overtook him with yellow flag during the entrance of the safety car and will then take a pit stop penalty). A touch with J. Wilson and Jaime is obliged to go on a kerb which ruins his floor and compromises the next performances. JAIME MELO: "I'm a little disappointed with the 3rd place. I made a mistake that costed me a position. The car was a little bit nervous so I pushed  as I could. We are at the beginning  of a long work of set up and
I think we will do better on next races. Anyway.a podium is good for me and the guys of the team, as well."

Lancieri's race finishes at 5th lap, while he was 12th, probably 'cause of a touch of Garcia on his car. He spun putting his race to an end. GABRIELE LANCIERI: "I would have finished my race. I had a good start and at lap 4 I was 12th then  I spun and I couldn't manage to do anything else. I'm looking forward for Imola; I know very well the track and there I want to catch a very good result."

M. Webber - disqualified for having overtook with yellow flag.
