ESTORIL TEST
Estoril – 22 and 23 October 2001

Weather: 1st day – rain 2nd day – sun

On Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd October on the Estoril Circuit (Portugal) took place the tests organised by some Formula 3000 Teams.

Durango – Benetton Team tested during both days the Slovenian driver Tom Nemarmik, who raced in the Formula 3 Middle Europe, giving him the chance to experience the International Formula 3000 and the Lola B99/50 car, and only on Monday the Swedish driver Bjorn Wirdheim.

Unfortunately the bad weather conditions during the first day of tests weren’t suitable for the two young beginners, notwithstanding this the Swedish driver showed great professionalism and remarkable skills in set up the car. In the meantime the Slovenian driver showed all his grit and longing of doing well, demonstrating a great margin of improvement.

Bjorn Wirdheim: “This is my first time with a Formula 3000 car and notwithstanding the bad weather conditions (he tested all day under a heavy rain) I’m very satisfied of the Team. I want test again on the Estoril circuit with the Durango – Benetton Team for a possible co-operation for the next season.”

Tom Nemarnik: “I’m really enthusiastic about Formula 3000, it’s the first time that I drive such a powerful car. At first I approached it cautiously, but the second day I was on the same level of the fastest and most expert drivers. I’m definitely satisfied about my results.”
