OFFICIAL TEST AT BARCELONA

Day Two - 5th December 2001

Day two of the test saw two new drivers's testing with the team, Brazilian Alex Sperafico and Italian Giorgio Pantano.  Giorgio who won the last round of this year's championship, was soon on the pace and ended the first session fourth quickest.  In the afternoon, he waited to use his second set of new tyres until the last hour when the track conditions were at their best and he clocked a time to put him quickest.  It was Alex's first time not only at this circuit today, but also in a Formula 3000 car.  He used the morning session to adapt to the car and finished fifteenth.  During the afternoon his times were more competitive and despite slower track conditions he managed to improve his time.  When he finished running he was seventh quickest, but dropped to tenth by the end of the session.

"We did a good test today.  I understood the team well and they understand me so together we did a really good job.  I know what it means to work hard and I am prepared to do this.  I am looking forward to the future and looking to win."

"It has been a very good experience, I have learned a lot about the car and the team.  I am happy, but you always think you can do a better job, but for one days test it has been quite difficult to compete with experienced formula 3000 drivers.  This track is quite difficult to drive at and very physical but overall I am quite pleased with my performance."

"Giorgio Pantano was immediately impressive in his test for Super Nova today, despite not being out on the track the day before as were the driver's ahead of him.  On lap times he ended up fourth quickest with a time of 1:31.529 and adapted well to the car and the team.

Alex Sperafico drove a Formula 3000 car for the first time, following in the footsteps of his cousins, Ricardo and Rodrigo who have both race in Formula 3000 this year.  Alex has been driving this season in Barber Dodge Series in America and he obviously had to adjust to the power and performance of the Formula 3000 car.  He improved throughout the day and wants to race in this championship in 2002."
